Eagle Gifts and Teachings

Eagle Gifts and Teachings

I wonder how different life is from dreams we have in the dark evening hours. I had on the full moon a dream that soon came to be true. I dreamed I was in a green woods with pine trees all around a calm lake. There was a clearing with crows walking on the grass as if in a meeting. Some stayed in the branches of the trees cawing to the ones on the ground. I watched them as I also was a part of this ceremonial event. Then they flew away cawing back to me, black wings spreading and taking flight. Several crows circled above while I stepped into the clearing and I discovered iridescent black feathers left between blades of gold dry grass. I picked them up one by one as if they were gifts left for me. I had a hand full of 16 blue black feathers.

Two days later my friend and I drove to Bon Tempe Lake in Marin to lie in the sun and enjoy this alpine lake with pristine waters you can see to the rocks below. Mountains with green pine trees ring the lake. We found a perfect place to lay our blanket down and rest in the sun. Warm rays entered my skin warming me to my bones. Electric orange dragon flies darted over my head and then pale blue and black striped ones came, almost in competition of who was most stunning. Light bounced off the little waves on the lake hypnotizing me to a gentle trance.

The old oak trees were just over the path at the lake’s edge and a flock of crows to and rest. They started to caw back and forth bantering amongst themselves. I remembered my dream of this moment. Some crows flew away and some stayed while I started to look for their onyx feathers like in the dream, and I spotted one peeking out from the grass. Then another and many more until I had found a handful of black crow feathers. I held them up to my friend into the sun like a child who found all the easter eggs in the egg hunt.

We packed up our things and hiked down farther on the brown dry dirt path along the lake. The path gently curved and we saw more beauty at each turn of the mountains, pine trees reaching higher. The next bend another crow started cawing to get our attention and as I looked up right there above my head was a bird with a wing span of about 6 to 7 feet wide! I blinked my eyes three times because this bird was huge and had a pure white head and white tail. My breath stopped and I realized I was looking at a bald eagle just above my head!

I whispered to my friend to look up at this beautiful bald eagle and he also was astounded at its size and grace. Then to my delight the Eagle started to make its cawing sounds. A soft piercing into the air moved me to a place of awe and connection to this incredible creature of the winds. I practice the healing arts of shamanism and I knew this was a very important moment where everything in my life was to change.

I had never seen a bald eagle until this moment. I opened my heart to the message this great bird had for me and I heard from the spirit of the eagle, this is my rite of passage into my power. I am no longer the person I was. My identity has been changed to one of an empowered woman to own my strength and all of who I am, to walk my path and speak my truth. The bald eagle told me this is my time to live as my true self and to do this with grace as he flies in the spacious blue sky. We can fly together now free. I am honored by you great bald eagle. I am honored.

Prayers in New Ways

Prayers in New Ways

Prayer can be a way to open and connect to the Divine. It is like a phone call to the Universe asking for what we desire in our lives. Prayers can be a fun way to start your day. To pray is an opening of our own hearts to the All That Is.

Be creative and experiment with your prayers every morning and see how it feels by changing who or what you pray to. There is no right or wrong as long as you have loving intentions. Sometimes I pray to Buddha when I am wanting to detach from an emotional situation. Sometimes I pray to the redwood trees to help me ground and connect to the Earth, or I might pray to the Sun above to light my way and shine light into my confused brain!

Then I wait to see how Buddha shows up for me, or how the redwood trees help or how asking sunlight to fill my mind shifts my thoughts. Maybe in my prayer Buddha helps me to remember we are all suffering in some way and to have compassion for myself and the other person. Just by doing the prayer I have shifted my attention away from the upsetting situation and invited new possibilities to happen.

If you pray to the Goddess, God, Universe or whatever feels good to you, this is a wonderful way to allow creativity into your prayers and not see it as a chore. It is an invitation to the Universe to come into our lives and help us to bring a better way that we are not able to see. It is an opportunity to remember we do not need to do everything all alone. That we are in fact, connected to the Universe and the Universe is connected to us.

Every morning when you awake say your prayers with joy that we are a part of the Universe of possibilities. Pray for three things you would like to bring into your life, and then give gratitude for three things you already have. Be ready for the Universe to show up for you in many surprising ways.

Maybe the Mother Earth will bring you a beautiful butterfly to remind you that you are loved. She did for me this morning and the picture is here!

Blessings of Joy!

Spontaneous Living !

Happy New Year!

Everyone usually begins their new year with thoughts of what you wish to bring forth. Things you want more of or things you would like to be more of. I found myself sitting at the kitchen table this morning thinking over my cup of coffee that I actually do this all the time – wanting more of everything! How wonderful to have hopes and wishes.

As I sipped my rich coffee with honey I felt I would like to wish for the unexpected – the good kind of unexpected! To be more open to the world and less rigid in myself. To give myself the gift of open spontaneity! The gift of child like existence where everything is a new discovery for the first time.

My friend came over to pick me up and we started our drive down the California coastline. I love being here in California by the ocean. This is a part of my daily spiritual practice to be present and enjoy this land where I live on Mother Earth.

As we made our way just past Half Moon Bay my eyes could not believe seeing a huge field of yellow mustard flowers blooming incredible joyousness! I yelped out loud “I want to run in the flowers – please stop the car”! We pulled over and I ran into the middle of the golden yellow ocean of flowers!

To frolic in this happiness I could have never planned this to happen. To ask the Universe to bring me the unexpected brought me the most incredible experience I have had in awhile. I have so much love for the Earth and all Her incredible gifts for me and us!

Expect the unexpected of joyousness to come to you. Be open to see it, feel it, and receive it into your heart! This is a beautiful life we have. To let go of what we already know can allow the unexpected to come forth. To embrace us with the immense love that is here for us all the time.

Be spontaneous and see what might happen for you today!

Create your own Ritual

What is your Ritual? I invite you~ Ceremony is important to open to the Spirits of the Land where your feet walk everyday to honor the Mother Earth. This is an honoring of the Great Gaia ~ Here is my ritual circle of stones that I have placed on Mount Shasta to honor this powerful mountain. The small white quartz stones are from Goat Rock Beach in California and the green stones are Serpentine from Mount Tamalpias In the center are stones from Point Reyes Kehoe Beach Ca. I create a circle of Empowerment to invite this into my bones that are the stones of the Earth Herself. May we walk together bound with love to create strength within for all of us as we walk together on Mother Earth. Blessed Be.

Supper with Ancestors this Eve

Supper with Ancestors this Eve

All Hallows Eve is a time of honoring all who have passed on to the other side. It is when the veils between the worlds are thinnest and we can lovingly connect to our beloved ones who have shifted over to the spirit realms.

Our Ancestors are the ones who have brought us to be here today. We can acknowledge them in many ways. We can create an Ancestor Altar with all of their pictures to see them. To let them know they live on with us and that we love them. We create an opportunity to speak with them and pray for healing for them, or just say hello and share our love.

Sharing an Ancestor spirit supper with them is also a great way to be together. This evening whatever you are making for dinner, create a special spirit plate for them. Set a place at the table for the ones you love. Share the loving food you have prepared to let them know they are always welcome at your table.

My Oma who passed over this year, I set a plate for you at my table. I love you and miss you. I will make this evening your favorite german food of bratwurst and sauerkraut! I know you like the rotkohl (red cabbage) as well. I will honor you Oma and eat my supper with you. I will place your photo on my altar and speak with you to ask you how you are doing. I will play your favorite waltz music the Blue Danube waltz that you like by Johann Strauss. We danced this together many times, remember Oma?

I still dance with you the waltz and remember your wicked sense of humor, and the sometimes dramatic way you did things. I remember your sneaky playfullness and how you hated to be called Oma because it made you feel old. You had us call you by your first name Marie because this was more youthful! I remember your love for me even when it was hard for you to show it sometimes. I honor you Oma and you live on within me. I have gratitude for all you have shared with me.

Letting Go of the Old

Letting Go of the Old

Fall is a time of honoring all we are releasing back into the Mother Earth. It is a time of let – go. Letting go into the unknown is sometimes scary… but we open into the space between and rest in the longer hours of darkness. This allows a newness to gestate for rebirth in the Springtime. Renewal for ourselves and the Earth. What is it that you are open to let go of ?

Sequoia Ancient Sages

Sequoia Ancient Sages

I love the redwoods. They only grow in Northern California where I live and no where else in the world. I always visit them because they are my tribe, they are my friends. The sequoia are the ancient ones that hold the stories of this land within their roots. They know all the peoples who have lived here throughout time.

This redwood is over 1,600 years old and lives in the Montgomery forest on the coast. It is like an old great, great, great grandfather who is patient with his little ones, us. He waits till we listen and then he talks. He tells of the changes in the earth and all the earthquakes he has felt here on this land. He speaks of the peoples and tribes that have come and gone. He has seen many die for no reason and he witnesses our human choices and wonders why it is we are not more loving to each other.

The Redwoods are wise because the stretch up into the stars and their roots go deep into the earth. They know of the cosmos mysteries and all our history. They grow in communities where their roots are always touching each other. They often have four or five trunks growing together at their base. They share so much love as a family tree. They support each other in their roots and live in harmony together.

I have written many stories about the redwood trees because I am connected to them from my heart. I tell the redwoods when I see them that I love them and they speak to me. I don’t think I could live anywhere else because I need to be near them and yes, I admit I am a California Tree Hugger!

Gratitude

Gratitude

You are a healer when you give gratitude. You are giving an offering of beautiful flowers or of loving kindness to each person, when you give gratitude. You are acknowledging their existence on the earth and how much you appreciate them. This is a healing… every time you give gratitude you are giving a blessing. You are a healer giving LOVE and it doesn’t cost anything to give.

In return you will always receive abundance back from the Universe. I promise you. It might not always come from the person you gave a compliment to, but it will come from a stranger perhaps when you needed something. What goes around comes around. Karma! If you are nice to people  – the Universe will shine love back to you.

What do you have gratitude for in your life? Who are you grateful for that you can give a blessing? What loving pets surround you with unconditional love? Who would you like to acknowledge by telling them how you appreciate their presence in your life?

What in Mother Nature do you have gratitude for of all She gives for you to live your life? The water you drink from Her rivers? The air that you breathe in every breath? The food that you ate for your breakfast this mornings meal? The hummingbird that perches in your tree out side of your window?

Last night I saw the sun setting and the fog was hovering over San Francisco as a very precious soft pink embrace. A half moon shone bright above and I felt a sense of appreciation for being present to witness the changing of time from day to night.

As I gazed up to see a half moon, I pondered what I may have left behind and what is coming for the next half of this moon time. The pink glow felt like a hug from the Universe, so gentle.

What gratitude do you have for this day? Share your gratitude so it is felt by the ones you are appreciating. You are a gift, share your love and give a healing today!
